Gateway Mall
Currently known as Gateway Fashion Mall, this enclosed shopping center in Bismarck, North Dakota, was opened in 1979, and is presently featuring more than 30 stores, with Conlin's Furniture, Hancock Fabrics and Sears as anchor stores. Located near the intersection of State Street with Century Avenue, close to Interstate 95, this mall had a tumultuous history with many owners and changes. Only in the past three years the mall has been sold three times.
Unfortunately, the mall’s food court consists only of subway and an ice cream shop due to the constant loss of tenants. However, this does not mean that the mall lacks in entertainment. When it opened, the mall originally featured a three-screen movie theater that was later turned into the "Midco 8". At that time, the theater complex was the largest in town, but it now faces competition from the nearby Grand 15 Theaters. The theater complex is owned by Carmike Cinemas. What is more, the Gateway to Science Center was located inside the mall for many years, but has recently moved out to a close by location. The Sunset Memorial Gardens are located across Sunset Street, for those interested in a pleasant walk.
The mall also features a "Medical Mall", a collection of medical clinics, managed by the PrimeCare Health Network.
